A person/organization is progressive if she/he/it has some good ideas about how to make societies more democratic/just/free/peaceful/environmentally-responsible and is not hung up on sexism/racism/elitism/homophobia/superstition/violence/irresponsible corporations/reactionary thinking/environmentally-destructive lifestyles. Examples of progressive persons/organizations can be found at Futuresavers and at Best Links.
Some folks are sexist, some racist, some homophobic, some
phobic to any religion other than their own, some phobic to
atheism/agnosticism, some phobic to the poor/disabled, some
phobic to or intolerant of just about every human genetic
background, belief or activity that can be named. Some at the
extreme right of the political spectrum are intolerant to all of
the above. All of us who are despised or discriminated against by
anyone should not be quarreling amongst ourselves. We should keep
our eye on the big prize, the prize that seems so far, far away:
a society where every person is free from blatant discrimination
and hate.
