Yann Arthus-Bertrand is an aerial photographer, an environmentalist, an ecologist,, an activist and an Earth saver. He uses hot air balloons, light aircraft and helicopters. His "Earth from Above" project has been seen by more than 120 million people and its book sold more than 3 million copies. His movie Home was shot in 54 countries and has been seen by over 200 million people. It shows the earth's wounds from the air, created by tar-sand extraction, toxic landfills, ice breakers, overfishing, over tree cutting, overpopulation, over cultivation, over drilling, over eating, over killing, over meat eating, overheating, overdriving, over air trips, overcooking, overshopping, etc. HOME shows the impact of unwise human activity and the disaster that will be caused if we do not do wise corrections. The film was shot from a helicopter using an HD camera for 217 days creating 488 hours of footage and was released simultaniously to five continents in different formats. It was the biggest film release of all time. The gist of the film is that there is still time to save the planet if we use renewable energy, build more parks, foster international cooperation and clean up our mistakes. We have 10 years to change the way we live so that there will be a survivable planet with a survivable way of living for all of the future generations of our lives. For striving for a better environment to help us all, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has been named Futuresaver of the week. Click the links below for more information.
