FUTURESAVER OF APRIL 2011
Habiba Al Marasi is the Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group and a founding member. The group is open to all nationalities and ages. She facilitates education and awareness of local and global environmental issues. She acts to collect and improve educational and research information. They have public education forums, community projects, cleanup drives, can collection.campaigns and other contributions toward the improved quality of of local environments. They involve youth of all nationalities in environmental protection. They recieve support of corporations and individuals. EEG became the world's first environmental NGR to be accredited with the ISO 14001 certtification and is the only civil society organization in the region accredited by UNEP and UNCCD. EEG has successfully brought the government, private sector and community under the same banner. Habiba is involved in many leading government initiatives on the environment at the national, regional and international levels. She is a recognized representative and spokesperson for West Asian Arab nations at high ranking international summits. She was the first recipient of the Emerates Businesswomen Award, Professional.
