Bill Richardson is the Governor of the State of New Mexico. He endorsed Barack Obama for President. Richardson was recognized by Pre-K Now for being one of only a few Governors who proposed and obtained Pre-K budget increases for the 2008-2009 school year. He is aggressively attacking drunk-driving accidents. He activated the New Mexico State Emergency Operation Center to deal with dangerous fire conditions around the state. He is seeking Submit Energy Innovation and Clean Energy Ideas to deal with the increasingly serious energy crisis in order to create faster commercial energy technologies. He met with the President of Venezuela to assist in securing the release of three Americans from FARC in Columbia. He also met with the US Ambassador to Venezuela. He also met with officials in Columbia. More than 90% of his 2002 initiatives have become reality. He helped create 27,400 jobs. He worked with numerous groups to make major changes in public schools: helped convince voters to invest money in classrooms; held teachers and students accountable; got pay raises for teachers and created a new professional salary system that was well-received. He is committed to giving all New Mexicans access to quality affordable health care. He works to help protect Medicaid services.
