Dana Balicki is Campaign Manager at CODEPINK. She project-managed the CODEPINK "Stop the Next War Now" book, coordinated work camps in New Orleans, organizes fund-raisers/events and works on many other CODEPINK projects. After traveling she settled in New York City to run the NYC office. She did excellent CODEPINK blogs from New Orleans where she noted that life is returning and being greened with the help of local grassroots organizations and incoming environmentalists who are bringing hope there. On Mother's Day 2009 CODEPINK invited women around the world to a 24-hour gathering at Lafayette Park across the street from the White House. They did knitting, dancing, strories, honoring Mothers of the Fallen, Mother's Day E-cards donating to help children in Gaza, Gaza Peace Delegations and more. CODEPINK urges President Obama to reconsider his Afghanistan plans so that there can be peace there instead of war and end the war in Iraq sooner than in his current plans. CODEPINK says "DON'T BOMB IRAN!" and have peaceful plans to deal with and differences between USA policies and Iran's policies. CODEPINK says Obama should stop postponing the end of the war in Iraq and bring American troops home sooner. They also say that Ahmadine should stand up for human rights in Iran and stop harrassing Shirin Ebadi. For being smart enough to realize that you do not make peace by waging war, Dana Balicki has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
