Rae Abileah coordinates CODEPINK local groups, connecting CODE PINK's national campaigns with the local grassroots women's movement for peace, bringing organizing resources to the local coordinators. Rae helps plan local speaking events and helps local activists to creatively work to stop the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. They do marches, vigils and special events like getting thrown out of Bush's inauguration. Her work keeps her well informed on the grassroots peace movements and on direct initiatives to end occupations. She has also organized actions and workshops to counter the deceptive tactics of military recruiters and to inform students/parents of their rights and of the reality of how the military operates. She helped write "10 Excellent Reasons Not to Join the Military" and the anthology, "Sisters Singing: Incantations, Blessings, Chants, Prayers, Art and Sacred Stories by Women". She is from San Francisco but travels a lot with CODEPINK. She also does creative writing, home-cooked meals, surfing and speed dialing the Congressional switch board. She graduated from Columbia University with a duel degree in Environmental Science and Human Rights. She has numerous other skills she can count on to help her master the tasks required to create a decent society.
