Janet Weil has been a member of the San Francisco Bay Area CODE PINK since 2003. She supports the work of local groops by maintaining the overall online calendar and local spotlight reports. She takes part in CODEPINK actions and shares photos and encouragement with other CODEPINK activists. She says that all U.S. troops should be withdrawn from all Iraqi cities and that hiring corporate mercenaries for use in Iraq should end also. We need a real withdrawal not a fake one. If If they hire more mercenaries than troops that are brought home then the "withdrawal" is a totally fake one and is just playing musical chairs. The Iraqi people must really be put in charge of their own destiny. In January 2007 she was with a large contingent of CODEPINKers in Washington DC along with other groups in a march around the Capitol and they lobbied members of Congress to bring the troops home and NO WAR on Iran. She helped call for an end to U.S. drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan July 2009 outside Creech Air Force Base. These drone attacks are violations of international law and help build the strength of the Taliban and Al Qaeda by dropping bombs on people's houses from thousands of miles away creating mostly civilian casualties = war crimes. For being smart enough to realize that you do not make peace by waging war, Janet Weil has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
