Ben Ray Lujan is the new Democratic Congressman for the 3rd district of New Mexico. Lujan is for getting our economy back on track by voting for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, supporting the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights, the Keeping Families in Their Homes Act, mortgage reform, a clean energy economy, investing in our children's education by maintaining support for disabilities and other needed programs, recruit and train qualified teachers who are fairly compensated so that no students are left behind and can access affordable college. He is for working toward energy independence and cleaner energy by increasing the percentage of renewable energy that state utilities must supply. He is headed toward fundamental changes in the way we create and use energy. He supports comprehensive health care reform that makes health care affordable for all American families. He wants to protect the natural , cultural and historical resources of all New Mexicans. He supported the FLAME Act with an ammendment that aims to reduce wildfire risks associated with invasive species. The FLAME Act establishes a permanent fund for fighting catastrophic wildland fires and establishes a cohesive wildland management strategy. He helped pass the Water Quality Investment Act.
