Blaine Clarke is Groups coordinator in Washington, DC working with allied groups who come to DC to speak out for peace, justice and environmental concerns or to attend trainings and workshops that have all of the resources available at the fabulous Pink House near Capitol Hill. Also, she assists in coordinating national CODEPINK actions happening in DC. She is the one to contact if a group is planning a visit to Washington or if you want to meet with your representatives in Congress. She can be reached at blaine@codepinkalert.org. She participated in the March 19, 2009 Shoe-Thrower's Release action at the Iraqi embassy in DC to advocate for the release of Muthader al-Zaidi for his traditional protest of George W. Bush's anti-Iraqi actions. Muthader had been sentenced to three years in prison for a political protest, a travesty of justice. The CODEPINK action also called for the arrest of President Bush for his mass murder war crimes in Iraq. Blaine also participated in "VOICES OF PEACE: IN CONVERSATION WITH WOMEN IN CONFLICT" which occured in DC May 8, 2009 which was about how women play a vital role in rebuilding society, stabilizing families, strengthening the work force and pressurizing their governments for change. For being smart enough to realize that you do not make peace by waging war, Blaine Clarke has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
