WOMEN'S VOICES FOR THE EARTH is a national organization which engages women to advocate for the right to live in a healthy environment. They seek to reduce environmental pollutants down to a level so low that they no longer cause health problems for women and all others. They create opportunities for women to influence environmental decision-making to the point that this excellent improvement in human health can be achieved. Since there are about 85,000 possibly dangerous chemicals in the marketplace most of which have never been tested for toxicity and many of which contribute to a long list of diseases, there is much needed work to be done in education and follow-up so that all possibly toxic chemicals can be eliminated from the environment and all of us can live longer and healthier lives. WVE is making progress but much money and effort and education is needed to complete the final goal of toxic-free living for all of us. WVE is now celebrating 13 years of working to protect women's environmental health. WVE has reduced/eliminated harmful cosmetics linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems and replaced them with safer alternatives, has reduced toxic nail polish products, helped reduce toxic products in nail salons, etc. For improving women's environmental health, WOMEN'S VOICES FOR THE EARTH has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
